Essences of Summer (Dickcissel)

This summer the colors of the prairie were remarkable with the purple of the iron weed and snow-on-the-mountain growing in clumps together. The local birds, and in this image the Dickcissel, used these colorful perches to alight on, adding to the beauty of the scene...if that were possible. I love how the purple hues faded to the horizon as one looked across the Flint Hills.
