Bottom-land Rendezvous (Snow Geese)

Each winter, usually in January, we start seeing large flocks of snow geese migrating through NE Kansas. These striking birds gather in the evening on area crop land to graze and settle in for the night. This painting was inspired by one of the large farms along the road I drive daily whose fields are ripe this time of year for these evening rendezvous by the geese. I have always admired the beauty and geometric patterns formed by the row of harvest corn or milo, enhanced by the newly fallen snow.

This piece is part of the Flint Hills Masters Exhibit that in the Fall 2015 at the Flint Hills Discovery Center. It was also featured in an article in Fine Art Connoisseur's E-News.
