The Morning After

The burning of the prairie is a vital step in preserving and maintaining the grass land; without it the prairie habitat would cease to exist, overrun by invasive plants and trees. The morning wakes to expose freshly charred ground and smoldering fuel rich areas tell of the recent passing of flames. This scene is inspired by a burn near my home in NW Wabaunsee County.
