Drink of Mimosa (Ruby Throated Hummingbird)

The mimosa tree in our yard always amazes me with it's showy display of delicate flowers which come out during the hottest part of our summer. The Ruby Throated Hummingbirds are drawn to enjoy its sweet and delicate nectar. I have always wondered why champagne and orange juice mixed is called a "mimosa"...here nature enjoys the real thing!

Was featured at the Kemper-Albrecht Museum of Fine Art in St Joseph, MO as part of the invitational MVIS Signature Member show opening Sept 15, 2017 and Buttonwood Art Space juried exhibition "Bloom" in 2018.
