Window from Past to Present (plein air)

August 2019 Second Saturday Paint Out sent us down the road from my home, deeper into the hill country of Wabaunsee County. I had permission to go to a historic homestead that was part of a working ranch, Mission Valley Ranch.

The owners have taken great care to rebuild and recreate the feel of any original structures on their properties, beyond just shoring up the walls or room, they recreate them, furniture and all. It is quite an amazing gift they have, and love to share.

I loved the old outdoor kitchen structure, it had so many possible things to paint, but elected to paint the view looking out of the kitchen to the outside yard. I couldn't help but wonder what had or hadn't changed in that view in the years since this building built.
