On the 4th of July my husband and I decided to go to Topeka, KS and check out what activities were going on at Lake Shawnee at their Spirit of Kansas Festival. We enjoyed some Blues music, then ventured off to explore the lake. What a gem! Several folks were out on the water enjoying sailing, water tubing, kayaks and paddle boats. I am always attracted to these sail boats with brightly colored sails. So lovely. I had to run home and do a couple sailboat paintings!
In the background is a very old, limestone Gazebo (Gazebo #2 is it's official designation). We wanted to explore it, but that was were the fire works were being set up, so it was closed to the public.
